Sure, for PCs, Old School Runescape can run on your potato computer with ease. However, OSRS on mobile is an altogether different beast. Phones and tablets have different parts and specifications that may or may not be enough. With that, here are the system requirements for you to start farming OSRS gold on your phone.

Minimum Requirements

The minimum requirements for OSRS Mobile are any Android device running Android Lollipop (5.0) or later. Some phones that don’t run on the usual Android OS need to have an equivalent version of their OS. Examples are some Xiaomi Phones with their MIUI OS and a few Samsung ones running on Tizen.

As for RAM, 1GB is enough to run the app. Generally, any smartphone made past 2014 should be able to play the game.

As for iOS, any Apple device that can run version 10.0 or later will be able to play the game.

Mid-Range Requirements

If you want to elevate things to a better overall experience when playing the game, your phone should have at least these specifications:

  • A long battery life
  • A good screen
  • The processor should be at least Snapdragon 835/Kirin 970 equivalent
  • Has 2GB or more RAM

One phone with all these specifications is Google’s Pixel 2. It runs Android Oreo with Google UI, has a Snapdragon 835 processor, and 4GB RAM. The phone’s display is a 5 inch 1920×1080 AMOLED screen. It has a 2700mAh battery, which would last a good while with the right settings.

High-End Requirements

Pretty much the same as above, but you’re going to need the best of the best. You will need a phone with at least a 3000mAh capacity, the best screen, the fastest processor, and no less than 4GB of RAM. It would be hard to find a phone with all these specific characteristics, but gaming phones would have most of these. That’s right, to get the best experience of playing the game, you’d need to dig deep into your pockets and get a phone that’s really, really expensive.

Exceptions

During testing, Jagex found that the app won’t work or has problems while running on some Android phones. These devices are Chromebooks, the ASUS Nexus 7, HTX Nexus 9, the NVIDIA Shield, Google Pixel C, and the Huawei P8 Lite. No word on when the performance issues of the game would be fixed on those phones. They’re committed to improving the optimization of the app, so it’s going to be fixed in the future. Look forward to it!

Like the PC version, a good number of phones can play the game. Lower end phones might have a little trouble, but it will run smoothly with the right settings. The developers even recommend using game booster apps to help smoothen the experience.

No matter what phone you’re using, the main thing is to enjoy the game. Chances are, the phone you already have would actually do for playing OSRS. All you need to do is to download the game and play. You can use your PC account, as the app allows cross-play between PC and mobile. Even if you’re new to Gielinor, there’s so much you can do.
