With the Galaxy S10 coming several days before the MWC 2019 event, the annual fair needs another hero. While companies are trying to get all attention in Barcelona with their 5G-related smartphones and announcements, Sony wants to conquer MWC with their brand new Xperia XZ4. While the company has lost popularity these past few years, the new smartphone is quite interesting to be discarded.
Sony has published a new teaser video posted on Twitter, while it doesn’t directly mention the XZ4, there is a hint of a super-tall handset that will deliver a “new perspective” for multimedia consumption. The Xperia XZ4 isn’t a new kid on the block, since we’ve been seeing a lot of leaks and renders related to the smartphone in the past days. While the handset is expected to come with improved cameras, the major selling point will be its unique 21:9 display.

Along with the Xperia XZ4, there are other smartphones prepared for the February 25 announcement in Barcelona. And if your budget doesn’t allow getting a flagship smartphone, there are reports of other midrange handsets coming with the unusual 21:9 aspect ratio. The new handsets of Sony will be the first bet on this new proportion, you may consider it kinda exaggerated, or something that will be hard to deal, but remember how the world was before the 18:9 screens? We wouldn’t be surprised if this new taller screen becomes a standard in the future.
Despite the fact that 5G will be one of the hottest focus of MWC, there are no rumors about the XZ4 or other Sony smartphone coming with the new connectivity in time for the Barcelona event. As we mentioned before the world will know the Xperia XZ4 on February 25 announcement in Barcelona at 8:45 CET (2:45 EST). So set a reminder and be ready to embrace this new super-tall handset.
