There is a Xiaomi launch event not far off, where it seems likely that the Chinese giant will announce the Xiaomi Mi 9 and some other products. The firm in the build-up to the launch event in a series of post yesterday let out specifics of the Mi 9 triple camera set up along with wireless charging, fingerprint scanner, screen, and some other features. We also learned that the upcoming Mi 9 will have a Transparent Edition, similar to the Mi 8 explorer edition.
Today we can shed some light on the specs too, thanks to some posts on Xiaomi Global Facebook page. First off, the info revealed that the Xiaomi Mi 9 will get some updated wireless communications features including a new NFC chip with dual-frequency GPS, using the L1 and L5 interchangeably, as well as the IR blaster which it omitted from the Mi 8.

Xiaomi is also revamping the UI thanks to a dynamic wallpaper that will change color and shades of the object throughout the day. Xiaomi CEO emphasized that the dark mode enables full use of the screen characteristics of AMOLED display to achieve system-level global power saving. Lei Jun said that the dark mode interface can save up to 83% compared with the original light-colored interface. Of course, this is a theoretical value and the practical usage may not be so high.
Furthermore, Xiaomi also hinted that the Mi 9 will get a special button on the side for Google Assistant, but instead of Google’s own assistant, the device might launch with Xiaomi’s own assistant – Xiao AI. Another nice addition is the automatic smart antenna switching and the phone will support 4×4 MIMO which is a given with the latest Snapdragon chipset.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 is expected to launch tomorrow barring any changes, where detailed specs and pricing will be revealed.
