The Samsung galaxy buds are here! Samsung is no stranger to making wireless earbuds but the name “Galaxy” is only given to their best products. Lets find out what earned the new wireless pair the “Galaxy” tag and what features it has.
The galaxy buds were launched alongside the Galaxy Fold and the S10 family recently. The buds are wireless and come in a portable case that can be recharged wireless. In some sense the Galaxy buds are truly wireless! They will be available for 130$.
The Case
The case is a pill shaped clam shell design. The case itself can recharge the individual buds. They carry 7 hours of charge. The most interesting part of the case is that it can too charge wirelessly. Samsung built the S10 charge coils to recharge the case. Putting the S10 into the Charge mode and placing the case on the back will recharge it.
The Buds
The buds themselves are small circular in ear type devices. It comes with silicone ear-tips to fit and stay in the ear. The buds seem bulky to look at but initial reviews say they are pretty comfortable.
Gizchina News of the week
The process of connecting your buds to any Samsung device seems eerily similar to that of the Apple airpods. Placing the buds near the device and opening up the case instantly pairs it to the device. The top surface of the buds are touch sensitive and can be used to manually connect in case it does not happen automatically.
The buds are tuned by AKG and promise to sound rich and high res.
Since the buds are considerable far from the mouth , Samsung implemented a dual microphone system. One on the exterior and one on the interior closer to the jaw. The premise is that if the buds detect a silent environment it will use the external microphone else shift to the internal ones for better audio reception. Samsung has not advertised any active noise cancellation features but it sure seems like it has the hardware for it.
The buds run on Bluetooth 5.0 and have 58mAh of battery internally and 252mAh in the case. The buds have a proximity sensor so they can detect if they have been removed from the ear and can automatically play/pause.
