Samsung will remap the Bixby button on all Galaxy phones with Android 9 Pie

Starting from Galaxy S8, presented two years ago, Samsung has introduced a physical button dedicated to the activation of the virtual assistant Bixby, but without giving the possibility to users to use it for other functions.

Things have finally changed and with the new Samsung Galaxy S10 range it is possible to remap the button, to execute a different command from the one thought by the South Korean group. The news is not only for buyers of new smartphones but will also be extended to some past models.

Bixby Button

Samsung has announced that the possibility to change the functioning of the Bixby button will be enabled, with a software update, even on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S9 lines, as well as on the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy Note 9 models, which have received, or are receiving, upgrade to Android 9 Pie.

Recall that Bixby will still be activated with a single or double press of the button, since only one of the two gesture will be remapable.
