Huawei Mate X, the foldable smartphone of the Chinese Giant presented on Sunday at MWC 2019 in Barcelona, has certainly gathered numerous acclaim from the insiders, but they have not been able to touch the product, which is not ready for launch yet on the market.
Among the perplexities that have rightly emerged in the past hours is the durability of the smartphone, equipped with a sophisticated hinge that adjusts the opening and closing towards the outside of the screen. He Gang, president of the mobile device line, tried to answer the most pressing questions in a brief meeting with the media, which took place in Barcelona.
As far as durability is concerned, there is not yet a precise answer, given that Huawei is still conducting numerous tests and many have yet to be undertaken. It is therefore impossible, at least for the moment, to establish how many opening/closing cycles can withstand the screen and the hinge, and the resistance when trying to bend the screen upside down by mistake.

As far as the user experience is concerned, the most recurring question is the applications and the way they adapt to the screen, especially in the transition from closed mode to that in which the screen is completely deployed.
Huawei has already worked a lot in this direction, to optimize the user experience and make the transition smooth, and the video above confirms it. The Chinese manufacturer has therefore reassured the users by stating that the durability of the Huawei Mate X is one of the priorities and that the foldable screen should not in any case be a hindrance or an impediment for users.
if the topmost layer is made of something plastic, then we are going back to kind of resistive like display when user had to press hard on display to work. and some thousand of bending/folding will put some dirty marks on the display folding point 🙁
