Does the Samsung Galaxy S10 fingerprint reader resist scratches on the screen?

Galaxy S10 fingerprint reader

The latest Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphones has arrived with a fingerprint reader integrated under the screen. It is a new type of fingerprint sensors since, while other phones use an optical sensor on the screen, this one is ultrasonic.

Luckily, JerryRigEverything has made a durability test of the new devices and has put his hands on the Galaxy S10 to answer any questions we may have about the resistance of the fingerprint reader.

In addition to passing all the standard tests, Jerry has done additional tests to the screen to test the robustness of the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

Gizchina News of the week

The screen resists reasonably well the scratches, and does not suffer damages out of the normal in the folding test. As for the fingerprint reader, as can be seen in the video, the scratches do not cause any problems to the reader’s operation.

However, deeper cracks cause the ultrasonic sensor to fail, which could possibly lead to having the screen replaced. Therefore, if you get the Galaxy S10, you should be careful with the screen.

It is worth to mention that the tipster Ice Universe has revealed that the Galaxy S10 pre-orders in the first two hours in China were twice as high as what the Galaxy S9 managed in its first day of pre-order. If this is any indication, the stats could mean a very welcoming reception for the Korean giant in the Chinese market.
