MediaTek is not always at the forefront of the high-end market, but things may soon change: the manufacturer in fact has unveiled that it will announce a chipset made with 7nm technology with support for 5G connectivity this year.
Finbarr Moynihan, Vice President of MediaTek for corporate sales and business development for the Americas and Europe, said that the new 7nm processor will be positioned in the higher end of the market and will be able to deliver better performance than the Helio P90, the current top model of the company.

Kevin Keating, director of global public relations at MediaTek, also said that the next generation of chipsets will offer support for 5G connectivity.
The manufacturer already has its M70 5G modem, unveiled at the end of last year and expected to be available in the next few months to make its debut on the market in the second half of 2020.
It is not clear if the new processor of MediaTek will boast ARM’s Cortex-A76 architecture, to learn more we will have to wait for official informations from the manufacturer.
