The team of Unicode Consortium, which is the group that deals with emoji and generally ensures that the smilies can be viewed on all devices, has released version 12.0 of its Unicode Standard .
This new version includes 554 characters, 61 of which make up the new Emoji 12.0 standard.
Unicode has recently presented the final list of the new emojis, which includes 230 variations of new and existing smiley faces. Strangely, today’s announcement includes two more emojis than the final list, but neither Unicode nor the Emojipedia blog say which two emojis were added in the final version.
Gizchina News of the week
Although Unicode has made the new emojis available, users will probably not see them again for quite some time (just to give an example, considering what happened last year for Emoji 11.0, Google will probably include the 12 version in Android Q).
You can find the full list of the new characters and emojis directly on the Unicode website.
