Corporate reputation plays an important role with consumers and is generally assessed over the long term. A recent survey shows that LG surpasses Samsung in terms of brand reputation, even though it is South Korea’s largest conglomerate.
The survey, published last week based on the evaluations of 7,600 companies in 50 countries, was conducted by the Reputation Institute, and sees LG at position 48, while Samsung leaves the top 50 and occupies the 52nd place.
A report by The Korea Herald newspaper shows that last year Samsung was in 26th place (17th in 2015/2016 and 70th in 2017), while LG occupied position 41, with Apple in 57th place.

RepTrak’s results did not provide specific reasons for company fluctuations in the rankings, but analysts have suggested that they could be linked to the various scandals surrounding technology companies.
The report also shows that other giants in the industry are going through a difficult period, with Facebook not even managing to get into the top 100 positions and Google coming out of the top 10 for the first time in almost a decade.
