Android 9 Pie plan for multiple Xiaomi phones revealed


Recently, Chinese manufacturer, Xiaomi, revealed that it will release the Android 9 Pie beta for Xiaomi Mi 6, Mi Note 3 and Mi MIX 2. Now, it has announced that this update will be released at Q2 2019. Xiaomi Mi 6 was released in April 2017, and it is already two years ago. The company also released a list of devices which would get the Android 9 Pie update as well as the time of expectation.

The director of Xiaomi’s mobile phone system software department, Zhang Guoquan, recently released the Android 9 Pie upgrade plan. According to the plan, the Xiaomi Mi 6X, and Redmi 6 Pro are currently in testing. The Redmi Note 5 and Redmi S2 are part of the Q1 2019 schedule while the likes of Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, Mi 6, Redmi 6A, Redmi 6, and Mi Note 3 are part of the Q2 2019 schedule.

Zhang Guoquan said that there is still a lot of time for this plan to materialize and Xiaomi;s engineers are still refining the updates. More recent flagships like Mi MIX 2S, Mi 8, Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition and other models have already received the Android 9 update. In a short while, older Mi phones will start getting this update.
