Last month, Opera launched a beta version of its web browser for Android that integrated a free VPN. Today the company has announced the launch of Opera 51 stable version for Android, which integrates a free unlimited VPN functionality.
Opera has been offering the VPN service for the desktop web browser for years and now this service is expanding to the mobile app.
If you do not know what a VPN is, it is a service that creates a private connection to a remote server from which you can surf the Internet. In this way, your navigation and location information is private, even though you use public networks.

In addition, in certain places like China where access to Google, Facebook and other services is prohibited, a VPN is the only way to bypass this restriction.
The Opera VPN uses 256-bit encryption to protect the data, but the company has not detailed the location of the servers. The beta version allowed to choose servers in America, Europe or Asia, as well as let the browser itself choose the best connection.
Opera has also promised not to keep records of user activity, so it will not have a way to provide navigation data in case it is required.
im downloading opera!
I don’t have the VPN option in mine. Downloaded both from play store and opera’s own website but still don’t have the VPN option in the settings. Anyone knows of a fix? I’m in China btw.
