Pop-up camera phones have gone mainstream in 2019, thanks in large part to Vivo and OPPO’s efforts. While there’s also talk about OnePlus coming up with a similar design for the upcoming OnePlus 7, a new render of a certain Redmi 2 Pro has leaked online and guess what? It has a pop-up camera. Now, there have been multiple reports about a high-end Redmi device with a Snapdragon 855 SoC and Xiaomi officials have admitted in the past that they would look seriously into the pop-up design if there’s enough demand for it. But this is the first time we’ve seen a render of the alleged device.
Gizchina News of the week
As with all leaks, this is to be taken with a pinch of salt as the info is simply emanating from leaks land. Also, the render suggests a Snapdragon 855 SoC will power the Redmi Pro 2 making it the rumoured flagship Redmi phone that has been talked about for long. Also, there’s mention of a 48MP rear camera if the render turns out to be legit.
A previous live image of a certain Redmi device was spotted in Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun’s hands and the device is thought to be close to launch. Despite all that, there’s no word about it on the official Redmi channel although we would definitely pay for a Redmi flagship.
