Chinese Smartphone maker Xiaomi and its Redmi sub-brand aren’t giving Samsung a breathing space in the Indian Smartphone market. The brand having overthrown Samsung as the country’s market leader let go’ off the Redmi brand which then came up with the Redmi Go as well as the Redmi Note 7 series of devices that have since given the brand a comfortable lead over Samsung in terms of Smartphone sale.
Now, it appears the Redmi brand is on the verge of releasing yet another device for the huge Indian market. The company’s India head has teased the imminent arrival of a new Redmi phone.
Mi fans! I got my hands on upcoming #Redmi phone & it is amazing! Went on a selfie rampage & the results are totally incredible.🤳
‘Y’ am I taking so many selfies? BTW I clicked ’32’ selfies with 32 @XiaomiIndia colleagues! 😉

The teaser is clearly teasing a phone in the Y series of Redmi phone that is set to launch packing a 32 MP selfie camera. While he made no reference to a specific device, the tweet focuses on ‘Y’ and ’32’ which is a clear indication that we are dealing with a device from the Redmi Y series, which perhaps could be the Redmi Y3 which was earlier this month approved by Wi-Fi Alliance.
While not confirmed, speculations are rife that the Redmi Y3 could arrive in India as the Pro variant of the Redmi 7, which perhaps suggests the “Redmi 7 Pro” will not come to India if at all the brand will release any device named the Redmi 7 Pro. It is not certain when the alleged Redmi Y3 will go official, but we should hear more from Manu Kumar in the days to come.
