If 2018 could be said to have been the year of the notch, in 2019, the manufacturers, including Xiaomi, are in constant search for alternative solutions with the motto “full-screen smartphone”.
Among the most popular solutions there is the retractable front camera or pop-up, if you prefer, an idea we have already seen on Vivo NEX S, or more recently on OPPO Reno and apparently we should soon find it again on OnePlus 7 Pro.
But let’s get back to Xiaomi, which already was associated with this solution as in mid-February, the vice president of the Chinese giant declared that the company was thinking of a smartphone with a retractable front camera.
In short, this helped us to clarify the issue and set the table for these two photographs leaked by Weibo that speak for themselves.
Gizchina News of the week
In this regard the colleagues of XDA speak of two names in code for the moment: “Raphael” and “Davinci”, smartphones that Xiaomi would be testing with a retractable camera mechanism on board. Not many details are known, but there are various evidences that these mechanical systems are placed on high-end smartphones. The smartphones comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, and among the few news emerged there is also talk of the presence of fingerprint sensors integrated into the display for fingerprint recognition.
Lastly, Xiaomi has started developing separate MIUI software releases for the Indian market, code-named “raphaelin” and “davinciin.” Thus, we believe both devices will launch in the Indian market.
