The rumors are true: the OnePlus 7 isn’t coming alone so says the firm’s CEO, Pete Lau. The company top Exec in an exclusive chat with Theverge confirmed the firm is working on not only the OnePlus 7 but also preparing the OnePlus 7 Pro, while also providing some hints on what the upcoming device will bring to the table.
First off, the CEO confirmed the premium variant of its upcoming flagship will be named the OnePlus 7 Pro and will feature 5G and a significant display upgrade, stressing that the display will be “very crisp” and that it would “redefine fast and smooth, and one that would set a new benchmark for mobile display. He added that the firm has spent three times as much on the display as on the screens of previous OnePlus models, and while he declined to request to comment of the underlining details of the display, reports suggest the OnePlus 7 Pro could get a QHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate.

That would be unprecedented if it pans out, as most recent flagships only boost of 1080p resolution and a conventional refresh rate of 60Hz, except a few gaming phones like the first and second generation of Razer phones and the Asus ROG Phone fitted with displays with faster screen refresh rate than the conventional 60Hz. Lau didn’t spill the bean on the Oneplus 7 pro price and availability, though there are indications it could cost as much as other 2019 flagships including the Galaxy S10 from Samsung and the recently unveiled Huawei P30 Pro. The OnePlus 7will probably go official later in May, perhaps on May 14, though the CEO has promised to make the launch date official tomorrow April 23.
