Google is on roll to improve its software platform for smartwatches, the WearOS. Google WearOS is the new incarnation of Android Wear and it has been updated quite a lot in recent months. However, an annoying issue has been plaguing the users of the platform in the past weeks. This issue turns one of WearOS most interesting features into a pile of emptiness.
According to reports from several users, Google Maps is practically unusable in their respective WearOS smartwatches. Users are simply greeted by a blank white screen with the Google Maps UI still visible. Waiting a little longer or restarting the device won’t help. The issue seems to be occurring in several smartwatches such as TicWatch Pro, TicWatch S2, Fossil Q Explorist HR, Skagen Falster 2, as well as Tag Heuer and Misfit.

Until the moment there’s no exact explanation for the problem but users have tried to fix the issue by clearing the app’s data several times to the whole process of reinstalling the app, unfortunately, these extreme measures couldn’t address this bug. Today, a Mobovi Forums Admin suggested that the issue was with the latest version of the Google Maps App. It’s possible the issue lies with Google Maps v10.13.3 one time that users that tried to roll back to a previous version have found success.
The issue was escalated to Google on April 13, but until the moment the giant of searches has no answer or update to fix the issue. Google Maps is an important app for many users of the platform, and we hope to see Google providing a fix for the problem in the upcoming days.
