Today, Chinese manufacturing giant, Xiaomi, announced a new feature that will be arriving the Xiaomi Mi 9 via a new update. Xiaomi’s founder and CEO, Lei Jun, introduced the new feature. He said that very soon, users of the Mi 9 will be able to choose to turn off the screen fingerprint icon. In this way, the traditional all-black pattern when the screen is possible and this actually reduces the standby power consumption and reduces the possibility of accidental touch. Xiaomi was not really thinking of a feature like this. The company’s system software director, Zhang Guoquan, was working on improving the Mi 9 system and came up with this. Lei Jun said, “this is a kind of feature that we hardly think of but its the definition of MIUI original plan – to give users options.”
As of now, this feature is still in development and the company did not announce the exact date that the update will be released to the Xiaomi Mi 9. However, there are many other features in development so we expect the company to combine two or three new features with its next security patch update.
I really do appreciate that option to disable the animation.
I actually am a little afraid, that it could cause burn in on the OLED.
E.g.
I am driving about an hour to work and nearly all the time the animation is lighting up caused by the street vibrations.
