According to the latest data from consumer research firm, CIRP, iPhone XR continues to dominate the US smartphone market and it is also the best-selling model in Q2 2019 so far. Previously, Kantar’s data showed that the iPhone XR is also the best-selling smartphone in the UK. In terms of sales of iPhone models, iPhone XS Max sells more than iPhone XS, and those who want the ultimate iPhone seem to be attracted to larger screens, while those who want smaller screens are more likely to choose the iPhone XR.
Gizchina News of the week
CIRP’s US smartphone sales report for the last quarter shows that the proportion of iPhone users paying for more storage increased from 33% in the same period last year to 38%, and Apple increased the Average Selling Price (ASP) to more than $800. On the basis of the high price of iPhone XS/XS Max, higher storage configuration helps to improve ASP, but now the low price of XR offsets this high price difference.
In turn, Apple’s revenue in services has performed well. CIRP found that nearly half of US iPhone purchasers paid for iCloud expansion, and Apple Music’s subscriptions were also high. Of the US iPhone users this quarter, 48% use paid iCloud storage, 21% use Apple music streaming services, and 13% use traditional iTunes music services. But due to fierce competition from mobile phone operators, retailers, and other warranty vendors, AppleCare’s warranty service sales are bleak.
