Redmi phone with pop-up camera gets more real as it appears on a teaser video

REDMI Y3 DESIGN

Full-screen phones either with a water-drop notch, punch hole display or the pop-up selfie cameras are all the rage now, and not a single phone maker wants to be left behind. Xiaomi already made a switch from mounting selfie camera on the bottom bezel for its Mi Mix series to a slider design, and rumors have been rift that its Redmi sub-brand could in the coming weeks launch a new flagship/midrange phone with Pop-up camera as you will find in a number of VIVO phones.

While the brand hasnt issued any official words confirming that, there have been some subtle hints that suggest the rumor could be quite right, and now, the brand just took to Weibo to drop a teaser video which involves a number of Redmi phones and the unnamed Redmi phone with a pop-up camera. The video teaser is a trailer of the new “Avengers: Endgame” movie along with some images of the recently released Redmi phones including the Redmi Note 7  in between. And of more importance to us is the end part of he video where a notchless phone with a pop-camera showed up, and while the video revealed nothing else about the mysterious Redmi device, this appears to be the same device we saw with the product director of Xiaomi, Wang Teng a while ago.

Gizchina News of the week

Past leaks and rumors hint at two Redmi phones with different specs grades. One favors a Snapdragon 855 Redmi phone highlighting a pop-up selfie camera, with up to 8 GB of RAM, up to 128 GB of inbuilt storage, 32-megapixel selfie camera, 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 13-megapixel triple camera, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, a display of 6.39 inches, while another favors a mid-range phone with a pop-up camera powered by the SD 730, with a massive 4000mAh battery and a tri-camera setup at the rear. The latter seems to be the most tenable, and that is hinged on the premise of a revelation made recently by MD of Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain who earlier last week confirmed that a new Redmi/Xiomi device with a newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon inside will be debuting in India soon. In the concluding part of his tweet, Jain hinted that the device will come with the latest “Snapdragon 7_ _ (announced just 2 weeks ago)”.
