We are already entering the next generation of mobile networks, that is 5G. While Samsung seems to have won the race for being the first smartphone manufacturer to launch a 5G phone in the market, other manufacturers are also launching their first smartphones with 5G support.
Three of these brands – Huawei, Oppo and Xiaomi – make their debut in the European Union with the launch of their flagships in Switzerland.
While Oppo has been the first brand to market a 5G device in Europe, the Oppo Reno 5G, the other Chinese manufacturers Xiaomi and Huawei will launch the Mi MIX 3 and the Mate 20 X the next day.
The Oppo Reno is available through Swisscom from today, May 1, while the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 and the Huawei Mate 20 X will be available through another operator called Sunrise starting tomorrow, May 2.
To get the Oppo Reno 5G, you will have to pay 999 Swiss francs (~ $983). On the other hand, the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G will have a very close price of 997 Swiss francs (~ $982) but you can get the Mi MIX 3 5G for 847 Swiss francs (~ $833). This indicates that 5G connectivity is likely to be something exclusive to the high range for a while.
As for the specifications of the three smartphones, the three come with high-end specifications. While the Oppo Reno and the Mi MIX 3 feature Snapdragon 855 chipsets, the Mate 20 X is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 980 from Huawei.
The Mi MIX 3 is the only device that offers a 6GB RAM, while the other two smartphones only have the option of 8GB RAM. The 6GB RAM variant of the flagship of Xiaomi will also have a lower storage option, ie 64GB or 128GB, while the other two will have 256GB of storage.
