Apple Watch continues to dominate the smartwatch sector in Q1 2019

The new Counterpoint Research report confirmed that the smartwatch sector is constantly growing and in the first quarter of 2019 it registered a +48% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Samsung, Fitbit and Huawei have recorded significant growth, but the sector is still literally dominated by Apple Watch, which boasts a 35.8% market share.

The Counterpoint Research report tells us that nine smartwatch manufacturers contribute 75% of the market and that Samsung, with a market share of 11.1%, is one of those that are growing at the fastest speed (even +127 % compared to the same period of the previous year).

Huawei is also growing and with 2.8% market share achieved in the first quarter of 2019, it can aim to become one of the most important companies in this sector within a few years.

For some time now there has been talk of a possible launch of the Google Pixel Watch, A patent showing a new clasp design for changing watch bands is believed to be granted to Google. Furthermore, Google posted new job openings which hint at the company’s ambitious goal for wearables in the future.
