Redmi K20 moniker confirmed for upcoming Redmi flagship

Redmi is looking up to upping its ante at this point with the launch of a flagship offering, and that device is becoming inevitable as the day-night cycle by as it has been enmeshed in a series of leaks. Just yesterday, the firm released a survey on Weibo with the aim of picking a suitable name for the flagship Redmi phone.

Now, the company CEO Lu Weibing has revealed on Weibo that the flagship Redmi smartphone will indeed be named the Redmi K20, further hinting that the device will be a flagship killer. He also revealed that the K in the K-series Redmi represents Killer and that the lineup will include performance driven flagship phones.

Gizchina News of the week

This confirmation isn’t really shocking,  given that there were also hints that the device will launch as the Redmi K20 Pro, even though it recently became glaring that it will also include a Vanilla Redi K20. With this confirmation, it is now glaring the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro won’t be a one-off thing, instead, the brand will be announcing new phones, k flagship killers at that under the new K-series of Redmi phones.

Redmi’s announcement does not, however, include the launch date of the Redmi K20, so we are still waiting anxiously for that official confirmation, though reports say the launch could happen today which is somewhat not plausible, given that there is nothing on ground that points to that.

While we have no much details about the K20, previous leaks and teasers suggest the Redmi K20 Pro will feature a 6.39” AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint reader and Gorilla Glass 6 protection, and under the hood, it will get the flagship  Snapdragon 855 chipset coupled with 6GB and 8GB of RAM, 64, 128 and 256GB of storage. The spotlight of the device, however, will be a 20MP pop-up selfie camera, a 48MP main, 8MP ultra-wide and 16MP telephoto rear cameras, and of course, a 4,000mAh battery will enjoy 27W fast charging.

We’ve  reached out to Redmi for comment of the launch date, and will get you updated in due course.
