The OnePlus 7 Pro just launched a day back with all its bells and whistles. The company elaborated on a lot of its highlighted features at the launch event but didn’t mention how water resistant the phone was. As OnePlus had already teased prior to launch that the OnePlus 7 Pro has some level of water resistance, despite the fact that there’s no IP certification to it much to the dismay of fans. So, after launch, some a couple of YouTubers have made valiant attempts to risk their own review units to test out how strong is the water resistance on the handset.
Matthew Moniz and Dave 2D both put the latest OnePlus flagship to trial in a bucket of water. Moniz’ test was more elaborate with the OnePlus 7 Pro being submerged in the water for 30 minutes while Dave’s test was around 16 minutes duration. For both tests, the OnePlus 7 Pro survived without any noticeable water damage whatsoever. Neither the cameras, nor the speakers (very minimal distortion), nor the screen showed any signs of damage and worked perfectly.

This is not to say that you can happily take your unit for a swim though. The company’s previous message should serve as a good caution that this should not be tried at home. However, if by chance, there happens to be an accident where the 500 Pounds phone falls into water, we can at least have some peace of mind that it won’t completely become a brick overnight.
