LG foldable OLED panel is ready to hit the market

Since the launch of the Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X foldable phones by Samsung and Huawei respectively, the era of foldable products has been opened. It is regarded as a revolutionary new generation of terminal products, which will eventually blur smartphones, tablets and even PC products. The most important component of the folding screen product is the display screen. Currently, it is mainly a flexible OLED panel. The Samsung Galaxy Fold uses its own AMOLED panel while the Huawei Mate X a BOE display panel. Recent reports show that LG foldable OLED panel is ready for commercialization.

At the recent SID conference, LG also showed off its own foldable display panel, and it is a 13.3 -inch large foldable panel. According to the South Korean manufacturing giant, it is ready to commercialize this product. Foldable panels are the next market hotspot, and other panel companies will not miss this opportunity.

Lenovo’s previously announced foldable display notebook uses the LG foldable OLED panel. This new folding notebook is expected to be available in 2020. As for when foldable screen devices will become the mainstream of the market, LG’s CTO, Kang In-byeong, said that the current technical challenges are still great, but ultimately panel makers will depend on the equipment manufacturer.
