vivo Y15 arrives in India with Helio P22 and 5,000mAh battery

VIVO

After some speculations in the fast few days regarding the launch of a new Vivo smartphone in India under the vivo Y15 moniker, today, Vivo India’s online store silently posted the referred device on its listing. The midrange handset comes to pair with the vivo Y17, obviously with different specifications.

The vivo Y15 comes with MediaTek’s Helio P22 Octa-Core chipset designed under the 12nm process. The processing power comes paired with 4GB RAM for multitasking purposes, the storage amount goes up to 64GB. Vivo’s midrange device is equipped with a big 6.35-inch LCD IPS display with HD+ resolution and a waterdrop notch at the top.

The camera department is composed of three main cameras at rear – a 13 MP main shooter, an 8 MP wide-angle lens with 120-degree FOV and a 2 MP f/2.4 depth sensor. On the front, we have a 16MP selfie snapper living inside the notch. Going back to the rear, the LED flash sits below the triple-camera sensor, and the fingerprint scanner is placed at the middle.

Of course, one of the biggest selling points of this midrange device will be its 5,000mAh battery that paired with a 12nm could ensure 2 days of usage. However, there’s a big caveat – This particular chipset does not support any kind of fast-charging, so users will be stuck with regular micro USB charging speeds. Another downside is that this device doesn’t really feel like a good value for your money. Priced at INR15,990 ($230/€205) it comes to India to compete with other strong smartphones such as the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi 7.

vivo Y15 comes in Burgundy Red and Aqua Blue color variants. Unfortunately, the listing states it as “Out of Stock” and there’s no info of an actual launch date.
