Huami has officially released a new Amazfit device, it’s latest smart wearable for the Chinese market. The name of the device can be directly translated to Amazfit Youth Edition, however, this looks more like an Amazfit Verge Lite considering how close it is in design with the premium smartwatch Amazfit Verge. The features are basically similar to those present on Verge, however, this variant promises much more battery life.
The Amazfit Youth Edition comes with a cheaper price tag of 499 yuan ($72) and is currently on presale in China. Youth Edition is equipped with a 1.3-inch circular display with a diameter of 43mm. The display comes with AMOLED technology featuring 360×360 pixels of resolution with Gorilla Glass 3 coating. Huami also says there is a coating on top of the screen which prevents fingerprint smudges from accumulating on the screen during use. The wearable comes equipped with a silicone strap that can be removed in the same manner as those of the Amazfit Pace and Stratos.
Huami’s latest offering is also lightweight, weighing just 46g as it is tailor-made for lightweight sports and daily use. Talking about features, it comes with real-time motion tracking, heart rate monitoring, long battery life, and offline payment. Amazfit Youth Edition supports automatic heart rate monitoring throughout the day. Users will be able to pay attention to the heart rate changes in different time periods or while in different sports environments. The watch will vibrates immediately when the heart rate exceeds a warning value. It also records sleep data, sleep quality, and there is a sedentary reminder.

The device gets a variety of sports mode coming with support for 11 different sports mode – That includes Golfing, Riding, Running, hiking, Gym training, Soccer, and Boat riding. It also has GPS+GLONASS support. It also has low-power sensor design which ensures it can deliver up to 20 days of battery use in daily usage, however, this endurance is reduced to 40 hours if the GPS is turned on all the time. Youth Edition offers support for Chinese Alibaba’s Alipay offline payment function which still works without a phone. The Global version will probably come with support for Google Pay.
Last but not least, the wearable does include a plethora of different watch faces allowing users to customize it according to their tastes. Talking about customization, users will be able to customize settings such as the dial background and dial display information according to personal preferences. Unfortunately, there’s no word about Alexa or XiaoAI voice assistant support.
The Amazfit Youth Edition or Amazfit Verge Lite is a great choice for those who want a decent full-fledged smartwatch without need to pay a huge amount of money. It sells at 499 Yuan which can be converted to ~$72, with such good value for money the device will probably one of Huami’s best selling wearables.
