Xiao Ai Wake Up Feature Added To A Few Xiaomi Phones


Currently, there are many voice assistants on the market. Initially, they have been developed for other purposes. But the manufacturers decided to bring them wider usage opportunities. This is true not only for Google Assistant, Siri, Bixby, and Alexa but for those that come our way from China. In fact, there are a few assistants that worth our attention. If you are aware of, we are talking about Xiaomi’s Xiao Ai, VIVO’s Jovi, etc. Among them, the former voice assistant is very popular as it’s used not only on Xiaomi smartphones but on other products as well. They include smart speakers, TVs, TV boxes, alarm clocks and so on. Unfortunately, there are still too many Xiaomi products lacking this feature. Some of them have been written off from the list. MIUI Team has officially announced the Xiaomi Mi 6, the Redmi Note 7, the Xiaomi Mi 9SE, and the Redmi Note 7 Pro now support the screen wake up function via XiaoAi voice assistant.

Owners of the aforementioned smartphones have to upgrade the version of Xiao Ai on their phones to v. 4.6 or above, go to Settings > Xiao Ai Lab, and turn on the voice wake-up option.

P.S. At the same time, MIUI Team also provided some instructions on how to use Xiao Ai voice assistant to wake up the phone:

  1. When entering the wake-up word, keep the phone in a distance of about 30 cm.
  2. Please make sure that Xiao Ai and MIUI have the latest version.
  3. Please make sure that the top microphone has no blockage.
