Today, at Xiaomi’s new product launch conference, apart from the Huami smartwatches, the Mi Band 4, the Mijia washing machine, and other products, the company also announced the new smart camera. It comes with a wireless installation, long battery life, IP65 dustproof and waterproof rating, and is priced at 399 yuan ($58).

The package contains a small white camera gateway device, which effectively enhances the stability of the network signal during remote data transmission and effectively reduces the power consumption of the camera. Inserting a MicroSD card into the gateway also enables local storage of alarm video.

The Xiaomi smart camera sports a built-in 5100mAh large capacity lithium battery, which can be used for up to 100 days on a single charge. Due to the IP65 dustproof and waterproof design, this camera doesn’t afraid of wind or sun. So it is designed for outdoor mainly.

The new Xiaomi smart camera support Al humanoid detection. With the artificial intelligence learning algorithm, it is possible to intelligently analyze the contours of the human figure in the picture. So it will avoid false positives caused by flying insects, pets, and light changes.

The PIR human body infrared sensor trigger alarm design is quite useful. Once someone enters the detection range, the camera will detect infrared radiation from the human body (detection distance up to 10 meters). With motion detection technology, it will send notification and corresponding information to the phone.

The Xiaomi smart camera provides 1080P high-definition picture quality due to the F/2.6 large aperture, which gets more amount of light. So each frame is as true and clear as the eyes see in real. There are also built-in 8 infrared night vision lights.

The Xiaomi smart camera comes with a local MicroSD card slot, allowing to store videos. At the same time, the new video automatically overwrites the old one. However, it’s free to store 7 days of alarm video in the cloud.
