Closely following the nod from China to operators for full commercial deployment of the next-generation cellular network technology, Huawei’s Mate 20 X 5G could be launching in the country soon if the latest scoop from China’s 3C is any indication. The Huawei Mate 20 X 5G with the model EVR-AN00 has been certified by China’s 3C certification, which is Huawei’s first 5G mobile phone certified by 3C.
The approval is a signal that the 5G enabled device could be launching in China soon, though we are not sure when the device will land in the country. China Unicom had earlier in MAY announced that the Mate 20X 5G will come with a price tag of CNY 12800 ($1882) which is twice the prices of other 5G devices in the overseas market, however, official hints from Weibo suggest that might not be the final retail price of 5G mobile phones in China, saying the actual price of the device in China will be lower compared to European prices.
Gizchina News of the week
As its name implies, the Mate 20 X 5G version is a variation of the original Mate 20 X, launched last November. The Huawei Mate 20 X 5G retains virtually every specs and features of the Mate 20 X released in 2018, but differs in two major ways – First off, the battery size has been cut down from the 5000mAh cell on the standard Mate 20 X to 4200mAh cell on the 5G supported Mate 20 X, perhaps to free up more space for some added internals. What is more, the battery now supports up to 40W supercharge from the 22.5W on the standard Mate 20 X, and you’ll be able to buy an M-Pen stylus to work with it, similar to the S-Pen in the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and other similar devices.
At the heart of the device is Huawei’s own Kirin 980 chipset coupled with the company’s Balong 5000 modem, the world’s first 7nm 5G multi-mode chip, while the rear is fitted with a Leica-approved triple camera array, comprising of a 40MP wide lens, a 20MP ultra-wide lens, and an 8MP telephoto lens.
