On June 21, Huawei will release a new nova 5 series in Wuhan. Latest reports suggest that Huawei will also debut a new 7nm SoC. This afternoon, He Gang, president of Huawei’s terminal mobile phone product line, announced on Weibo: “I am proud to say that we are about to become the world’s first mobile phone brand with two 7nm SoC chips…See you in Wuhan on June 21st.”
This sparked speculations that the nova 5 series will come with a new 7nm SoC and it could be the Kirin 810. This will be Huawei’s second 7nm chip after Kirin 980. At present, little is known about the specification information of Kirin 810. According to the reports, the Kirin 810 processor is an upgrade of the Kirin 710. It is built on the TSMC’s 7nm process. The CPU, GPU and especially the NPU will be upgraded. The performance may be close to that of Kirin 980 but we do not expect too much difference.
