CC series is Xiaomi’s latest smartphone series, CC9 and CC9e launch imminent?

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has today June 21 announced a brand new series of smartphones – the Xiaomi CC series. The new CC series is actually a product of the partnership between Xiaomi and Meitu. The series will focus entirely on selfie-centric smartphones, perhaps targeted at the female folks.

The new Xiaomi CC series will leverage on Meitu’s expertise in cameras, while Xiaomi is expected to ensure the devices are stuffed with top notched specs, and designs at affordable prices.

Xiaomi and Meitu have yet to release further details surrounding the new Xiaomi CC series. So we are not sure when the first device under this series will see the light of the day. However, we’ve some hints s to what might finally launch as the first two devices in the new CC series.  Recall that two Xiaomi smartphones with the model numbers Mi CC9e, and Mi CC9 hit the web recently. Although not officially confirmed, there are speculations these would launch under the new Xiaomi CC series.

Xiaomi CC series

The Xiaomi Mi CC9e had earlier this week appeared on TENAA with a familiar looking Xiaomi Mi 9 design. The specs details have yet to surface on TENAA, though rumors have it that it will come flaunting a 6.39-inch AMOLED panel of FHD+ resolution with a waterdrop notch and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The selfie camera will come in at 32MP while the back will house the triple camera setup with a 48MP main shooter alongside wide and telephoto sensors.

Xiaomi Meitu

While we have little or no details about the Xiaomi Mi CC9, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun recently teased a device on his Weibo page. The device has the “Little Fairy,” codename and with a familiar look. It has a motorized flip-up camera similar to the Asus Zenfone 6 design.

Xiaomi CC9 expected Specs

The image reveals a triple camera setup that flips over for selfie while serving normal photographic functions when not in the selfie mode. Exact camera details remain sketchy, though rumors point to a 48MP main sensor with additional telephoto and ultrawide modules.  It is also tipped to come with an AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint reader and the Snapdragon 730 SoC.

We expect to see some more official details in the coming weeks/days.
