As expected, Vivo has introduced the new 120W fast charging technology at the MWC in Shanghai, China. The new fast charging technology is officially called “Vivo Super FlashCharge 120W” and is the fastest charging technology in the world. In March 2019, Xiaomi announced the 100W fast charging technology but, for the moment, has not announced any phone that supports this technology.
For its part, Vivointroduced the 44W fast charging technology with the Vivo iQOO smartphone, which is the company’s fastest charging technology to date. Now, the new Super FlashCharge technology uses a new charge pump technology with a maximum charging power of 120W (20V/6A), which is by far the highest charging technology.
According to the company, the Super FlashCharge technology can charge a smartphone with a 4000mAh battery from 0% to 50% in just 5 minutes and it takes a total of 13 minutes to reach 100% charge.
Gizchina News of the week
Like any other patented charging solution, Vivo Super FlashCharge 120W only works when the device is charged with the adapter and the type C USB cable provided by the company.
Like the OPPO VOOC Charge and the OnePlus Warp Charge, Vivo also replaces the voltage reduction circuit with the MCU (Micro Controller Unit). The MCU is placed inside the charging adapter and protects the device from overloading. This also solves the problem of temperature rise that commonly occurs while charging any device.
In terms of security, the Battery Management System (BMS) will ensure that the battery’s charging capabilities are balanced to offer a long battery life.
