Xiaomi’s first 5G smartphone – Mi Mix 3 5G will debut in Europe and China soon. However, seems that Xiaomi won’t be satisfied in offering 5G only for the customers of the premium Mi-series. The company’s sub-brands, Redmi and BlackShark are already working on their own 5G handsets.
Redmi General Manager, Lu Weibing, who is attending MWC Shangai, Weibo’s post reveals that “5G is coming”. According to Weibing, by the end of 2020, we will see 5G phones costing less than CNY 2,000 – that’s about $300/€260.
Global Black Shark VP, David Li, posted that the R&D team has been preparing for the arrival of the next-gen network. However, he didn’t specify any date. Despite BlackShark Flagship nature, we believe that a 5G-ready gaming smartphone should follow Redmi schedule.

According to Weibing “4G changes lives, but 5G changes society”. He claims that the next-gen network will help the creation of many new apps for smartphones. We can’t say how 5G will directly be related to app development, but the experience on the go will really change.
Just imagine downloading a full FHD or 4K movie in just a few minutes while on the go. However, there’s still a long road before 5G turns into a reality for all customers. While companies are promptly presenting their 5G smartphones. There are several countries where 5G Network is still on the paper.
