The concept of animated emojis became hot in 2017 with the release of iPhone X. Apple’s Animoji got popular among some users, and other companies promptly followed. Samsung’s version is called AR Emoji, while Xiaomi dubbed it as Mimoji. The Apple of China released this exclusive feature with the Mi 8, but later it was ported to several other devices. More than a year later, Mimoji didn’t really catch up with customers, however, Xiaomi Mi CC9 will bring it back to the table.
The feature makes some sense on the Mi CC9 series. After all, Xiaomi described this range as smartphones made for teens people. And Mimoji is really something targeted at younger generations. Xiaomi isn’t just bringing it back to relevance, but also adding ton o new features and functionalities.
The original Mimoji app came with just a few characters including the famous Mi Bunny mascot. However, this new variant will allow you to create and customize your own Mimoji. Lao Wei stated on Weibo that there are 165 different hairstyles, faces and accessories users can choose from when creating their avatar.
