The dual flagship strategy or a 6-month refresh cycle is fast becoming a norm in the smartphone industry. The problem has been that OEMs had in the past relied on the same chipset for both devices. But with the surprise announcement of the Snapdragon 855 Plus a few days back, the status quo might be changing soon. Xiaomi has teased the Black Shark 2 Pro.
As well as other OEMs, Xiaomi is also looking forward to updating one of its flagship offering with the latest Snapdragon 855 Plus. Recall that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 Plus chip is built for gaming and VR. So essentially all OEMs that have so far confirming adopting the SoC is looking to do so in their gaming-focused offerings. Asus for its upcoming ROG phone 2, Nubia for its beastly Nubia Red Magic 3. The Xiaomi brand has announced it will be updating its Black Shark 2 with the newest SoC.

The Xiaomi sub-brand in a Weibo post/teaser revealed the information earlier today when it announced it will be launching the Black Shark 2 Pro later this month. July 30th to be precise.
Other than the upgrade in the SoC, we are not sure what else the so-called the Black Shark 2 Pro will bring to the table, but we hope more revealing teaser will be out in the coming days.
