Samsung’s collapsible smartphone had been postponed late last April due to major engineering issues. Revised and corrected, the Galaxy Fold could land to the market before the end of the summer.
A decidedly busy summer for Samsung, which must also market Galaxy Note 10 and a probable Galaxy Tab S6.
The Galaxy Fold is ready for marketing
According to internal sources, the Galaxy Fold has passed brilliantly the last tests to which it has been submitted, and would be ready to be marketed. Information corroborated by representatives of Samsung themselves.
For the moment, the manufacturer did not communicate any date. Maybe Samsung will take advantage of its New York event of August 7 (dedicated to Galaxy Note 10) to re-launch it.
Gizchina News of the week
Stay ahead of Huawei
After a false start in April, the question of the launch of a foldable smartphone remains unanswered. Samsung had clearly launched a product in a hurry and lost a precious lead in this market of the future.
Huawei, its most serious competitor in this nascent segment, had also revised its launch schedule for Mate X. A few days ago, the Chinese giant announced a launch next September. Samsung has about two months to organize the supply of Galaxy Fold of the various outlets around the world.
Previously, the executive director of Samsung Mobile, DJ Koh has told us that more than 2,000 new units are in testing. In order to ensure there were no more problems after the re-launch.
It is worth to mention that recently, there are also reports that the company is silently testing the Galaxy Fold. Now, somewhere in the New Dehli metro system, a unit of this smartphone was spotted. Speculations have it that it is in testing by a Samsung employee but there is no verification to that.
Generally, it would be fair to reason that this is simply a Samsung employee going against regulation. However, it could also be a structural integrity test of the Galaxy Fold to check out its daily usability.
