OnePlus first tidbits of Nighscape were given last year with the OnePlus 6T. This year the feature made a comeback in the OnePlus 7 Pro. Nightscape mode is OnePlus’ vision and implementation of a photo mode that further enhances the capability in the night environments. Nightscape uses a machine learning engine to improve the photos taken in the dark. It is capable of identifying scenes to deliver natural and sharper pictures.
Night Mode is one of the most important features in the market these days. After all, thanks to these enhancements we can capture great pictures even during the night. Many companies have been implementing their night modes combining multiple images and other processing techniques to deliver better low-light shots. On the OnePlus 7 Pro, Nightscape mode is limited to the main 48MP rear camera out of the triple rear camera setup.
Gizchina News of the week
A OnePlus executive hinted that in a near feature the Nightscape Mode will be also available for the other cameras. According to a report from GSMArena, Zake Zhang, OnePlus image product manager revealed: “We are working on bringing the Nightscape feature to the other cameras in a future update.”
That makes perfect sense, one time that competitors like Huawei are already offering a Night Camera mode that makes the better use of multiple camera setups. It’s good to see that the company is giving a further step on night photography. In the future, we hope to see the Selfie camera also getting the same treatment. After all, Pixel smartphones are here to prove that it’s possible.
