Vivo Z5 goes official in China with Snapdragon 712, 48MP camera and 4,500mAh battery

Vivo has finally released the Vivo Z5 in China today. The device can be considered as an advanced version of the Vivo Z5X handset which came back in May. The new handset shines with a Snapdragon 712 chipset, a triple-camera setup led by a 48MP sensor, 6.38-inch AMOLED display, and a huge battery.

The Vivo Z5 ships with a 6.38-inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 pixels full HD+ resolution and 19:5:9 aspect ratio. Since it’s an AMOLED panel, Vivo has equipped it with an under-glass fingerprint scanner. Although the handset ships with a waterdrop notch it still offers 90% screen-to-body ratio. Moreover, it carries support for features like Always-on Display and DC dimming.

 

The upper midrange device is powered by a Snapdragon 712 chipset. In addition, the device comes with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of Internal Storage. There is a 4,500mAh battery fueling the handset with support for 22.5W flash charge via USB Type-C. It does support reverse charging, so you can share that amount of juice with your friends whenever they need.

A more than capable triple camera-setup

There is a triple camera setup on the rear shell of the Vivo Z5 smartphone. It possesses a primary lens of 48MP with f/1.8 aperture, a 120-degree 8MP ultrawide sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 2-MP depth sensor boasting f/2.4 aperture. The waterdrop notch houses a 32MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The Vivo Z5 makes use of 4-in-1 pixel merging technology for achieving good pictures even in low light scenes.

Software and other features

The Z5 ships with FunTouch OS 9 running on top of Android 9 Pie. Furthermore, there is a Multi-Turbo system that boosts the handset performance to deliver an improved gaming experience. Many smartphones now have exclusive gaming features, and the Vivo Z5 doesn’t disappoint. The handset takes a ride in the competition and its virtual assistant dedicated buttons, by offering a hardware key that calls  Jovi AI smart assistant. Other features include dual SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and 3.5mm audio jack.

 

Vivo Z5 Price and Availability

The Vivo Z5 has arrived in four models in China:

  • Vivo Z5 – 6GB RAM + 64GB storage – 1,598 Yuan (~$232)
  • 6GB RAM + 128GB storage – 1,898 Yuan (~$275)
  • 6GB RAM + 256GB storage – 1,998 Yuan (~$290)
  • 8GB RAM + 128GB storage – 2,298 Yuan (~$334)

The handset will be available in Forest Night, Aurora Illusion and Holographic Illusion. Pre-orders start on August 1 through many e-commerce platforms in China. The actual sales will start on August 6.
