Samsung recently added two new smartphones to its Galaxy Note lineup at its successful ‘Unpacked’ launch event. Along with Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+, the South Korean-based smartphone announced a plethora of devices which includes Galaxy Watch Active 2 and Galaxy Book S. Coming to the specifications, Samsung Galaxy Book S features a 13.3-inch TFT touchscreen display having a Full HD+ resolution and an aspect ratio of 16:9. The display panel supports the 10-point multi-touch operation. Instead of Intel or AMD chipset, the laptop is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8CX SoC. For those who’re unaware, Snapdragon 8CX is basically a customized version of Snapdragon 855. It is manufactured over the 7nm fabrication process with a maximum clock speed of 2.84GHz. In terms of RAM & storage, the Galaxy Book S packs an 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 512GB storage option. Surprisingly, the internal storage is expandable via the MicroSD slot.

What makes this laptop unique is the addition of various connectivity features which competitors lag behind in. Samsung Galaxy Book S has a nano-SIM slot with the support of LTE and 3G networks. Other features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v 5.0, and USB Type-C. All of these is fueled by a 42Wh battery that supports USB Type-C based fast charging. Samsung touts an incredible 23 hours of video playback time. The laptop has plenty of sensors packed inside such as fingerprint reader, hall and light sensor. The Galaxy Book S supports Windows Hello sign-in option.

As mentioned earlier, Samsung Galaxy Book S comes in two different storage variants. The base variant with 256GB storage is going to cost you USD 999. As of now, there is no pricing information for the top-end variant. It is available in two color options namely Earthy Gold and Mercury Grey. Speaking of availability, the Galaxy Book S will hit select few markets including the US. The laptop will be available for purchase in the US later this year. There is no word whether the laptop will make its way to the Indian market or not. Guess we’ll have to wait for an official announcement for the same.
