South Korean manufacturing giant, Samsung, has been doing a lot in smartphone camera development. Redmi and Realme will use Samsung’s new 64MP camera and the former’s intention to use this sensor is official. At Xiaomi’s unveiling of its plan to use the 64MP sensor, Xiaomi’s CEO believes that Samsung’s 100MP (specifically 108MP) camera is not far away.

Today, Samsung announced on Twitter that a new ISOCELL sensor will be released on August 12th. The company claims that it will “redefine the resolution” of cameras. Although Samsung was not specific, however, the industry speculates that it may release the 108MP sensor on August 12. Regarding the highlights of Samsung’s 108MP ISOCELL Xiaomi has previously disclosed some details. According to Xiaomi, the resolution of the camera is 12032 x 9024.
Xiaomi also believes that Samsung’s 108MP sensor will be the largest image sensor on the market. In addition, the large photosensitive area can provide higher light input. Its night shooting ability is undoubtedly worth looking forward to. Unfortunately, Xiaomi did not announce the details of the new smartphone to use the first 108MP sensor. Many think that it may be the upcoming Xiaomi Mi MIX 4. According to Xiaomi Chairman and CEO, Lei Jun, the company is working on a smartphone with the 108MP sensor.
