Today, Honor’s vice president talked about the AI camera of the newly-announced Honor Smart Screen.
Lao Xiong said that the AI camera of the Honor Smart Screen not only has better video calling effect but also comes with functions that other products can’t achieve at all. One of the most noticeable features of this camera is its pop-up design. As it won’t be used all the time, the manufacturer has decided to hide it in the body and let it lift when needed. Once the camera pops up, it also supports 10 degrees forward tilting. Moreover, the Honor Smart Screen’s lifting camera is more secure than the regular camera. It will only go ON under certain applications. Also, the TV will store no data after the work is done. The company has also added the hardware level mechanical sound, which specially adjusted by the R&D team to let the users know its place in the dark.

The camera can provide 1080P resolution video calls, using third-party applications on the market. Its sensor chip size reaches 1/2.7”, which is larger than the current mainstream front camera. The single-pixel size is 2.24×2.24um, which is much larger than the pixel size of the front camera of the smartphones. Combined with the smart low-light technology developed by the R&D team, it makes the camera have higher brightness and less noise than the ordinary USB camera under the same lighting conditions. This makes the picture more delicate, and the picture quality is better when making video calls.
In terms of actual experience, when making video calls, the Honor Smart Screen uses Huawei’s self-developed H.264, H.265 enhanced codec technology. It integrates self-developed terminal chips that support up to 30% anti-lost effect. During the call, the TV will actively adjust the frame rate, bit rate, and resolution according to the network status.
