Huami is the exclusive provider of wearable technology for Xiaomi and maker of the Mi Band series. Today, Huawei VP took to Weibo to showcase the appearance of the Huami upcoming smartwatch. According to the Weibo post, the PPI of this watch hit 341 which is higher than Apple Watch Series 4. However, according to some leaks that hit the web yesterday, the new Huami watch seems to be a direct copycat of the Apple Watch Series 4.
Interestingly, Huami VP, Qi Fandi, believes that Apple Watch is undoubtedly the benchmark for smartwatches. However, he claims that this time, the new Huami watch surpasses the Apple Watch. He said “the PPI of Apple Watch is 326, the new watch of Huami has a 341 PPI reached. He also claims that this pixel density of the upcoming watch is close to the pixel density limit of the current AMOLED screen.

As for the release time of the new watch, Qi Fandi said: “we will see what happens on August 20”. It would be nice if Huami could come up with its own design for the new smartwatch. Its current design of Huami upcoming smartwatch has too much resemblance with Apple Watch.
