Russia Prefers China’s 5G Network Signal Band (4.4G HZ – 4.99 GHz)

Russia 5G network

According to CCTV reports, Russia has recently announced the latest version of the draft development of 5G technology concept before 2020. And in the concept document, it is proposed to give priority to the signal band used in China. This simply means that the 5G network cooperation between the two countries will be further improved.

Russia proposes to use the 4.4-4.99Ghz band to create a 5G network. At present, the Russian Ministry of Mass Media and Communications has started working with Russian communication equipment manufacturers on this project. It will submit a report on the preparations in November. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation is preparing to set up a consortium to provide a complete industrial line for the construction of 5G networks. This includes the development of software, hardware, and electronic components.

The report also pointed out that the band 4.4-4.99Ghz is currently only used by China and Japan. Russia prefers the signal band used by China in the construction of 5G networks. This means that the 5G cooperation between the two countries will go one step further.

In June this year, Huawei signed a 5G technology agreement with MTS, one of Russia’s largest mobile operators. According to the agreement, Huawei will assist Russia in building 5G and launch a 5G network in Russia in 2019 and 2020. At present, Russia has carried out 5G pilot work in some cities.

Apart from this, Chinese smartphone brands perform quite well in the Russian market. And Huawei is the leader, obviously.
