This fuels speculation that both brands could be working on something – what else if not a TV?. This is a strong clue that Redmi could be working on a smart TV. Now, the Redmi TV has made an appearance on the Chinese National Quality Certification Center. This product got its certification on July 19th and the product model is L70M5. It is produced by TPV Technology (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. According to speculations, this TV will be available as soon as possible. For now, a September launch seems most probable.

Xiaomi TV has a huge acceptance in China and India. It has been the top TV brand in both countries for many quarters. According to data from Aowei.com, in Q1 2019, Xiaomi TV shipped 2.354 million units in China, a year-on-year increase of 79%. AIoT is the most important core strategy for Xiaomi TV. It is logical to reason that Xiaomi has to maintain its Chinese sales by bringing a cost-effective Redmi TV series. Not everyone can afford the innovation that subsequent Xiaomi TVs will bring. Thus, the Redmi series will not use some of these innovations to keep the price at bay.
