Xiaomi is gearing up to release the Redmi Note 8 pretty soon. In order to catch the hype for the upcoming device, the company is busy shooting plenty of promos videos. The latest one has leaked in the wild, showing an interesting and rather unexpected feature in the coming device – NFC support.
While NFC isn’t a groundbreaking feature, it’s an interesting addition. We’ve been waiting for quite some years to see the technology becoming popular and with the advent of smart home systems and digital payment wallets, NFC finally gained a great purpose. In the past, Xiaomi limited NFC support to the premium Mi-Series, but now, seems that Redmi will break the walls once again bringing NFC to their newest mid-range champion, the Redmi Note 8.

Interesting enough, the company is aware that NFC is gaining traction in China as AliPay and Apple Pay use it. While QR codes are still prevalent, the presence of the NFC hardware in the Note 8 will make it ready for any country where the technology is widely available.
While the leak clearly reveals a Redmi Note 8 device, it’s unclear if this one is the standard or the Pro variant. For now, we can’t say what will be the major differences between both the variants. Despite this, it’s already confirmed that the Note 8 Pro version will include a 64MP ISOCELL camera.
For now, details about the Redmi Note 8 series are still scarce, but considering the number of leaks and ads popping out we don’t think that Xiaomi will take so long to release them.
