Back in 2013, Fairphone launched its first-ever environment-friendly smartphone in European markets. Well, the smartphone maker has now added the third-iteration of the lineup called Fairphone 3. For those who’re unaware, Fairphone is a dutch-based company that believes in an ethical, reliable and sustainable smartphone. The company follows the ideology of creating environment-friendly products that are designed using raw materials and fair-labor practices. In the world of growing smartphone industry, Fairphone doesn’t offer top-of-the-line innovative features but it does manage to save the environment in a unique way.

Coming to the specifications, FairPhone 3 features a compact 5.65-inch display having a Full HD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone comes with the traditional design having thick bezels. Under the hood, the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 652 chipset. The SoC is paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard memory. For imaging, there is a single 12MP sensor at the back with an aperture of f/1.8. For selfies, there is an 8MP front snapper with an aperture of f/2.0. All of these is fueled by a smaller 3,000mAh capacity with the Quick Charge 3.0 support.

Other specifications include stock Android 9.0 Pie, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, fingerprint sensor and NFC for mobile payments and one-tap pairing requests. Also, the device has our beloved 3.5-mm headphone jack. Surprisingly, it does not ship with charger, cable or earphones. According to the brand, this step is taken to reduce clutter since many buyers will already own these. If you want, you can still order these accessories separately. Although you do get a mini screwdriver and bumper case. You can make use of the screwdriver for modular components replacement.

Fairphone 3 will soon be up for pre-orders with a price tag of EUR 450 ( roughly 498 USD). The shipping, on the other hand, will commence in early October. The brand has partnered with cellular companies and is planning to scale up marketing campaigns. The smartphone comes with 2 years of warranty. The brand has promised easy repairs and in fact, user can order a specific part from the website and can assemble it at home.
