The Korean website ‘The Elec’ reported that Apple plans to release an iPad Pro with a 3D sensor rear camera in March 2020. The source quoted an unnamed industry source, which says that South Korean contract manufacturer Derkwoo Electronics will provide some components for the 3D sensor camera module. And the mass production of these components is expected to begin at the end of 2019.

The rear 3D sensor is said to support ToF (short for Time of Flight), a technique that measures the time, which a laser or LED bounces from an object, providing accurate 3D modeling of the surrounding environment. The iPad Pro should collect this data for building a more perfect AR image.
Gizchina News of the week
Earlier, there was news that the iPhone is expected to sport the ToF camera next year. But today’s report shows that the iPad Pro will adopt the technology six months earlier than the iPhone. Specifically, the new iPad Pro will be released in March 2020, and the new iPhone may be released in September.
A well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously said that the possibility of using ToF technology in the fourth quarter of 2019 or the first quarter of 2020 is over 50%. So seems at present, it is not a problem to add ToF technology to Apple products. The only question is to use it on the iPhone or iPad first.
In the past few years, in fact, many technologies on the iPad have been transplanted on the iPhone. This is especially true for the full-screen, Face ID, etc.
