Since the launch of the Mi CC9 and Mi CC9e in China, we’ve been expecting for their respective global variants. The latter came in the last month as the Xiaomi Mi A3 Android One device. The device wasn’t so well-received due to its pricing and HD+ display. For that reason, we’ve been expecting Xiaomi to launch a Mi A3 Pro variant as a rebranded version of the original Mi CC9. That won’t be the case. And according to a report, the Mi CC9 is coming for global markets as Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite.

The report comes straight from Mishaal Rahman, the editor-in-chief of XDA-Developers. He tweeted that a new device called the Mi 9 Lite popped out recently on Google’s list of certified Android devices. The device in question is a variant of the Mi CC9 and carries the same “pyxis” codename.
Gizchina News of the week
Unfortunately, there are no much details about the device other than the name change. However, since it is just a rebranding, we can expect the same specifications of the Mi CC9 being present on Mi 9 Lite’s package. This kind of strategy is becoming recurring among Xiaomi devices. The Redmi K20 and K20 Pro are the most recent examples, that except for China and India, are sold as Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro.
Since this device is already showing itself in Android devices listing, its launch may happen pretty soon. The Mi 9 Lite comes to succeed the Mi 8 Lite released last year. If you are curious about the Mi 9 Lite specs, we have this link with the complete specifications of the Mi CC9. They are the same device, so we don’t expect big changes.
