Redmi Note 8 Pro pre-sale ends today – official sales commence tomorrow


A few days ago, Chinese manufacturing giant, Xiaomi, held a press conference where it released the Redmi Note 8 series. On the launch day, the official pre-sale of the Redmi Note 8 Pro commenced for a 100 yuan ($14) deposit fee. Now, those who paid the non-refundable 100 yuan ($14) has till tomorrow to make the final payment. This pre-sale also comes with a free headphone. With the first official sale holding tomorrow, there are a lot of expectations for this smartphone. It is the first device with a 64MP camera and its also a gaming smartphone.

At the launch, Redmi general manager, Lu Weibing, said the Redmi Note 8 Pro is not a high version of the Redmi Note 8. Rather, it comes with its own design and features. To put it simply, the Redmi Note 8 Pro has a flagship camera, flagship performance, and a flagship look/feel. However, it goes for a mid-range price.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a 6.53 full-screen display and it has the TÜV Rheinland eye certification. It uses a COF flagship packaging process with an ultra-narrow chin and a 3D four-curved glass body. It is available in three colours including white, grey and green colours.

One of the main selling points of the Note 8 Pro is the 64MP Samsung GW1 CMOS sensor with a 1 / 1.7 photosensitive area. This sensor is capable of outputting 9248 x 6936 resolution photos. In the core configuration, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is equipped with MediaTek Helio G90T gaming chip. On AnTuTu, this chip exceeds the Snapdragon 710 but falls short of the Kirin 810.

Redmi Note 8 Pro is also Redmi’s first phone to use a copper tube liquid cooling. The copper tube area is larger and the external copper area is an auxiliary heat insulator. On the battery side, this device comes with a larger 4500 mAh battery which the company claims can offer 2 days normal use, 18 days standby, 19.5 hours video time, 9 hours gaming time and 54 hours talk time. In addition, it supports 18W fast charge with a standard 18W charger just like the Redmi Note 8. The Note 8 Pro also supports QC 3.0, QC4+, USB PD, MTK PE multiple fast charge protocols.

In terms of pricing, the Note 8 Pro is available in three versions. While the 6GB+64GB version sells for 1399 yuan ($196), the 6GB+128GB and 8GB+128GB versions sell for 1599 yuan ($224) and 1799 yuan ($252) respectively.
